He's here, he's home, he's beautiful

Well, Saturday was the day -- a very long day -- for the arrival of Austin Tully Lev.

He came out to say hi at 5:35 p.m. Pacific Time on April 19, 2008, weighing 8 pounds, 7 ounces and measuring 20 inches.

We thought we'd have to stay in the hospital until Monday to give Sarah maximum recuperation time after a difficult labor -- she pushed for three hours! -- but they let us go home Sunday night.

Grandpa Phil and Grandma Judy helped make little Austin feel welcome, and Grandma's sticking around for two weeks or so to help us out before Nanny Marcia and Aunt Alison visit from Chicago.

Austin seems to be enjoying the free food his mommy is providing, and he already has shown impressive neck muscles for a newborn, lifting his head to look around while propped on his daddy's shoulder.
